本題の見方－－－ダジャレ文の中の青色文字は英語の意味、赤色文字は語呂合わせの部分で、
かなりなまったり方言ぽくなる場合があります。また、ダジャレ文は語呂合わせの為の文言で、
意味の正当性、日本文としての正確性は有りません事ご周知下さい。

　英単語に添えられた丸数字は難易度レベルで、詳しくは2012.8/27号をご参照ください。

再びダジャレ記憶法の実体験をしました。（実はいろいろな場面で何度も体験してはいます。）
4月号本題1）の単語fathomですが、6/17のチャールストン教会の出来事の後、ニュースに一斉にunfathomableという単語が飛び交い出し、瞬時にあのfathomから「不可解な、言うに言われぬ」といった意味であろうことが想像でき、またこういう場面で(fathomableよりunfathomableが多いことからfathomは否定的な場面で使われ易い）使われる単語であることが分かり、まさにダジャレ記憶法の実践例（語呂合わせならぬストーリー仕立てでしたが）そのものでした。下にニュース例文を掲載します。（全て6/18の各社の新聞記事からのものです。）例文にあるambiguousやderangedも、過去にダジャレたもので、やはり思い出すことができ、ダジャレ記憶法のすばらしさを体感することができました。どうか皆様も是非、体験し、ますます単語力をつけられますことを願ってやみません。

ところで、最近、新幹線で焼身自殺した事件が大きく報道され、まさに”unfathomable”として扱われましたが、この事件が私のような、豊かではなく、苦労に苦労を重ねて今に至った初老の人間にとっては、ある意味”fathomable”に思える時もあり、自分でもやばいなーと感じることがあります。詳しくはまた後日に取り上げたく思いますが、どうか奇異に思われることなく「一体なぜか」に思いをはせていただけましたら感謝感激ではあります。

　最近、ハーバード大学マイケル・サンデル教授による、ご存知白熱教室が放映されました。世界各国の公共放送に携わるメディア専門家たちによる”公共放送の持つ役割”についての討論で、
大変興味深いものでした。ただ、残念だったのは、出席した他国の全ての関係者が英語を駆使していた一方、日本人だけは日本語で通していたことでした。我がNHKの職員が同時通訳を介した姿には、がっかりしました。海外で英語を駆使して活躍されている皆さん、いかがですか。天下のNHK職員がこれでは、情けないの一言ですね。（国谷さんでも出せばよかったのに）
　海外で語学学習に励んでいる若い皆さん、そしてこのブログをにやにや見ている海外在住の皆さん、皆さんたちはどうぞ頑張って下さい。白熱教室に参加し、サンデル教授と英語で丁々発止やって下さい。私のできなかった夢を、みなさんに託したいと、心よりご期待申し上げる次第です。

今回から時々 、私が主宰しています「数学を愉しむ会」で評判の良かったパズルを、このブログでとりあげさせてさせて頂きたく、今回問題を下記に掲載しました。本当は問題文を英語にして、現地の方々にも挑んでもらいたいと思っていますが、うまい英訳が出来ず、日本語で失礼いたします。
