先月末は、トランプ大統領の日本公式訪問で、メディアが賑わい［1）］，様々な不明語が飛び交いましたが、それ以外にも大きなニュースは多々ありました。メイ首相の辞任にはビックイースました。［2）］また、堕胎禁止には、あのレディーガガも「変なす！」とほえまくりました。［3）］そんなわけで、とりあえず3語プラス7語行きます。

 4月号－－－ああ懐かしき、このブログのアーカイヴ

ブロガー（私）のページには、どの記事が良く観られているかの情報が示されます。（左欄に掲載されるようになりました。）昔の記事を開いてみて自分でも噴き出したり、懐かしく思ったり致します。最近見られていたもので懐かしく思ったものがありましたのでご紹介いたします。

'Jeopardy!'

下記はネットにあったこのクイズ番組の解説文です。

とにかく以前の記事は、今と比べてずいぶん詳しく多量の単語をダジャレていたなーと、我乍らあきれ返ります。又頑張ってやらねば訪問者の皆様をがっかりさせてしまうの感を強めました。そこで今回は、いきなり6語まとめました。また良いダジャレ見つかり次第順次増やしていきます。
 

 

1）今ではピケ(ビゲ）ットを張ると却ってデモ妨害者を数多く生みだすことになる。⑬beget(vt)－－－　　

　「ピケットを張る」は今や死語か。

例文：The scandal is certain to inflame longstanding complaints that children of the wealthy and well-connected have the inside track in college admissions―sometimes through big ,timely donations from their parents―and that privilege begets privilege.

2）しわがれた声が聞こえてくるのはどっちの方す？⑪hoarse(a)
例文：The prime minister May、hoarse after Monday's late-night talks,told law-makers:
"Let me be clear. Voting against leaving without a deal and for an extension does not solve the problems we face."

3)核分裂性の物質が見つかったらフイッスル（whistle）で警報鳴らせ！。⑰fissile(a)
例文：There is the document that North Korea shoud transfer its nuclear weapons and fissile materials to the United States.
※核分裂性物質（英: fissile material）とは、熱中性子との相互作用によって核分裂を起こす物質の総称を言う。主にウラン235 ²³⁵U とプルトニウム239 ²³⁹Pu のことを指す。

4）会話は共鳴するのが理想（ゾウ）ねーと、言い合った。そう理想なんす。⑫resonate(vi)⑦resonance(n)
例文：That doesn't resonate in my heart.

5）そのアイドルは、ファンを魅了し引き寄せることが出来なくなり、引退す。⑨entice(vt)
6）駆け込むのはラストでいいっち。last-ditch （idiom)
例文：Retailers are engaging in a marketing war as they entice consumers with "Last Heisei"sales,
while bridal companies are preparing for a wave of "last-ditch mariages" in which couples wed before the end of the era.（2/10The Japan News）

5)非のある自分を差し置いて、こちらを責めるとは無礼千（ぜん）万、盗人猛々しいにも程がある。
　⑪brazen(n,vt)
 例文：The speaker of South Korea's National Assembly has added fuelto a simmering contraversy over his call for the Emperor to apologize to "comfort women",describing Japan as a"brazen thief" for demanding that he retract his comment.－－－この例文はソウルの共同通信のもので、ある外交官の感想では『盗人猛々しい』の翻訳（韓国語の「賊反荷杖＝泥棒が警棒を持っていたというような意味」の日本語訳）は少々刺激的で、険悪感を助長しかねないとのことで、一方、英訳としては上記例文の下線部"brazen thief"がほぼ妥当ということでした。 なおダジャレ文はただのダジャレで何の意味も含んではいません。
