9月号－－－「実践英語」と「学習英語」との差違

実践英語と学習レベルの英語との大きな違い
このブログの英語、または英語の扱い方は、実際に社会のなかで使われている英語の話ではなく、英語に不慣れ（ただの趣味人がやっている学生英語のようなもの）なブロガーが見よう見まねで発している英語にまつわる話なので、英語を仕事として実際に使われておられる方から見たらばかばかしかったり、腹立たしかったりすることもおありかと察します。今回出会った難解語（と一瞬錯角した）にはまいりました。新聞記事で不明な、見たこともないような英単語に出会うと何とか語呂合わせをして覚えてみようとするわけですが、
下記1）の　emoji　には驚きました。見たこともない何か難しそうな単語だと思って、私の持っている2007年発行の辞書を引いたところ、これには収載されておらず、weblio、Merriam-Websterの両辞書で見て、なんだ「絵文字」のことで日本語由来の英単語だったことに気づかされ、自分のバカさに呆れたわけです。（sns・ネット関係に詳しい方ならすぐお分かりになる事象なのでしょうね。ことほど左様に英語・語学に関しては、実践と学習レベルのものとは全く異なるもののようですね。）英単語も新しい造語や外来語がどんどん作られ、新聞雑誌には当たり前のように使われたりしているわけで、日本で、それも英語の素人がそれに追随して行こうとするのはやはり無理な気がいたしました。


1）エモジは絵文字だ！(難易度不明）emoji(n)－－－全ての英単語がこうであったなら、人類（日本人だけか）の費やすエネルギーは半減（一割減か）していただろうに。中高生がその分の時間を、数学・物理・哲学に振り向けていたならば、あー文化は、文明は、もっともっと－－－。エスペラント語がいまだに存続し使われているのが納得です。（9/23記）

手話が世界共通で、共通語として機能すればいいのにと思うのは誰しもでしょう。実態はそれぞれの言語に合わせた手話なのでやはりそれはかなわぬ夢のようです。日本国内の手話も二種類があるようで、不合理極まりありませんね。（9/23記）

上記の例文は、昨今コロナの影響で流行りだしたzoomにまつわる話のようです。とにかく‵emoji’にはまいりました。

2）何事にも素早くブリッと付(ス）け入るのが、現代の企業の望まれる戦略だ。これでこそ、急成長と勝利を勝ち得る。（難易度不明）blitzscaling(n)－－－ダジャレ文の意味も不明、この単語も1）と同様、新語・造語のようですが、そもそも学生や一般人にとっては習得不要語か。
例文：Terms like " permissionless innovation" and "blitzscaling" entered the tech lexicon.

3）脱出法のアイデアあんなにあったが、自由の身になったら、案減ったど。㉘unfettered(a)---ダジャレ文意味不明につき失礼いたします。
例文：Speech on the web: Unfettered no more  －－－新聞の見出し文（The New York Times July 4-5,2020)

4）我々グループは皆大人の集まりだ、そんな非礼な輩は会に入れべれんす。（入れないでおこう）。㉔irreverence(a)
例文：A tech monoculture that once celebrated its recklessness and irreverence is being pushed aside by a younger and more politically conscious generation of tech workers who actually want their companies' products to reflect their values.  

5）エビを食べると体内に抗原が出来るぞ、さー、沢山エビ採っぺ（発音は‵トウプ’、意味は‵採ろう’）。⑱epitope(n)---抗原とは免疫機能を持つ抗体を作り出す物質のようで、antigenと言われるものの表面物質らしいですが、詳しくは免疫学を調べられたし。epitoｍeと要区別、epiのつく語は皆難解、epithet憶えておられますか。語呂合わせは皆「エビ」になってしまいます。（そもそもパピプペポのつく日本語は、「本」「変」「杯」「吻」などがリエゾンになる場合以外には一切無く、最もダジャレ難い発音です。）

※最近知りましたが、かの‵抗体´はantibodyなのだそうですね。（９/10記）

※まとめ：抗原antigen,  抗原決定基epitope,  抗体antibody,(9/19記）


6）ウィルスはコロコロ変異するんだから、特効薬創っても無駄(みゅーてー）しょん。（意味‵無駄でしょう’）⑨mutation(n)－－－ダジャレ文は正当性はありません。
尚、この場合、音声による記憶よりアルファベットのローマ字読みの方が「無駄しょん―――無駄でしょう」と連想しやすいように思われます。無駄しょん→何が無駄→薬作るのが→なんで→コロコロ変わるから、と言うように連想できますよね？

例文：They identified several epitopes that activate a patient's immune system, so that the vaccine design is capable of responding to mutations of the virus.(The Yomiuri Shinbun Apr.26,2020)

7）今度のワクチンは、実際の効能はいぶかしい（エフィカスィー）。⑨efficacy(n)
例文：However, to develop vaccines, it is necessary to repeatedly conduct clinical trials and research to determine its safety and efficacy, making it likely that it will be awhile before actual vaccinations are carried out.

8）指名されるや否や、そのシェフはエ（イン）プロンぷっと外して、即席に話し始めた。⑪impromptu(adv)
例文：Ideas bloom, the thinking goes when people start impromptu conversations at a whiteboard or in the cafeteria.

9）偏屈な排他主義者にピカ（ビガ）ッと光るものがあるはずがない⑭bigot(n)
例文：The internet giants' unwillingness to make rules (and then, later, their inability to enforce them) empowered a generation of bigots and media manipulators who are now among our most influential public figures.

＜復興/甦生の"礼”三語＞
10-1）危なかった経済を蘇らせてもらった国民は、皆礼させてーとその為政者に感謝した。⑪resuscitate(vt.)
例文：Under significant pressure to resuscitate the country's economy, South Africa will loosen up considerably on Tuesday.
10-2）危篤だった患者、甦生させられ、担当医は礼されくと（されまくるぞ）。⑪resurrect(vt,vi)

10-3）復職させてくれたあのお方に礼してーと言われた。⑪reinstate(vt)

12）明瞭な発音で、明確に表現するから、もう一度だけでもあってくれーと頼み込んだ。⑨articulate(vt,vi,a)例文：But he clearly adored his quick-witted and mercilessly articulate elder daughter. ( New York Review of Books, Jan. 2002)

6）ナスと言う野菜は原始時代からある植物で、土地土地によって種類が異なる。その土地固有の植物であり、逆に言えばその土地で採れたナスが最良であるといえる。その土地のものがいんでじぇ（いいんだぜ）ナスは。⑧indigenous(n)－－－ダジャレ文の真偽は不明ですが、こういう説もあるようです。

7)ここは貧しい人々のための無料食堂です。いんでじぇ（いいんだぜ）うんと食べて。⑮indigent(a)－－－何でpoorじゃだめなのさ。英語に接していて良く感じさせられる、pet peeveの一つです。

8）若い女性教師でも、生徒に物事を教え込むには、長い髪じゃだめだ。髪の毛刈るよ。いいん？刈るけど。⑮inculcate (vt)

10）ヴァージョンアップすることをバージョニングと言う。意味は、ヴァージョンアップをしていくと町も会社も急発展していくことから’伸展・急発展’となる。⑮burgeoning(a)

日本語の標準語だけでは、ダジャレ(語呂合わせ）出来ず、2）のように、沖縄語でだじゃれました。

1）「えっ火にあぶるんですか？」「はい、いんです。ぷーっとあぶると文が浮き出てくるのは疑う余地もない。」⑬indisputable(a)－－－dispute からの連想で日本語の意味の掌握は十分可能か？
例文：The harm from the accident, which dwarfed the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill of 11 million gallons, was indisputable.（Recent  examples on the web  10June2020)


2）「怨恨取らばーチブル（頭）に来る」というのは疑う余地のない所業。⑰incontrovertible(a)－－－「チブル」は沖縄語で「頭」の意味だそうです。1）、2）は同意語、それにしても共に意味不明のダジャレ文、失礼致します。これも、こんな意味不明のダジャレを持ち出すまでもなく、controversyからの連想で十分か？

3）ここは我慢ど！それ以上食っちゃならん。この大飯ぐらいが。⑭gourmand(n)

4）技術の競争では、主にパテントが全能の力を発揮します。⑬omnipotent(a)

5）田舎者と言ってよけるのは差別だ！㉓yokel(n)

6）恐れたりあん（恐るべし）、強圧政治！⑨authoritarian(n)

8）エビセットとは、高級弁当の別名（代名詞・俗称）だ。⑬epithet(n)

9）地味な（にゅ）ちぶさは、小柄な女性だから仕方はない。⑩ diminutive(a,n)－－－ここでは「小柄な」の形容詞ではなく、「接頭辞・呼びかけ語」の意味の名詞のようです。
例文：His fascination with stature has been on display over the past four years, as he has repeatedly tarred his antagonists unsubtle diminutives：‟Little ～、Little ~,－－－.”(The Washington Post 20Feb.2020)
 
10）‟あざけり”と言う意味の単語は英語にはたーんと（沢山）有る。⑪taunt(vt,n)－－－本当に沢山あります。これに限らずとにかく同意語は多いですね、英語には。そもそも英語は外来語で出来た言語ですから仕方ないと言えば言えますが。

下記の英文中に、このブログで最近取り上げられていた単語が使われていました。さて、ダジャレで日本語の意味思い出すことが出来るでしょうか。私は、ぴんと来ました。もともと知っておられる単語なら話は別ですが。

5）ユリ、即ちリリー食いしゅぎ、おなかゆるむんで、胃薬手放せず。⑩relinquish(vt)

6）子供はもっと褒めんと、不満を助長するよ。⑳foment(vt)

7）会うスト（ヒト---人）会うスト追放してたら、誰もいなくなっちゃうよ。⑪oust(vt)

※ratchetは、自分をかっこいいと思い込んでる女性のことも言うそうですね。こうなると英語はもうハチャメチャで、お手上げです。

8）この非常時に、今やレストランに走って行ってねじりこんで無理やり奪い取ってくることを、レスト‐ランと言う。⑪wrest(vt)
例文：ただいま紛失中、追って収載します。( The Washington Post  4/26)

9）彼のおかげで復職出来たんだ、彼に礼してーと頼んだ。⑪reinstate(vt)

10）リモコン取ってくれっかー。⑲clicker(n)---こんな生活用語が難易度⑲とは！英語国在住の皆さんには難解でも何でもない日常用語でしょうね。日本を離れたことのない日本人にはこれは難解ですよ。

⑪archipelago(n)－－－ダジャレ文意味不明ですが、何となく記憶しちゃうのでは。archiは接頭辞ですが、まとめて覚えようとすると混同して失敗します。（昔－ologyやったのは覚えておられるでしょうか。）

2月号－－－10個何とか作りました。

新聞雑誌には後から後から不明語は出てきます。しかし、ダジャレられるものはだんだん少なくなってきます。無理やりダジャレるので苦しいものが増えます。そこのところどうかお許し下さい。

1）誰だって、もっぱら食べる味のよいもの。⑪palatable(a)

                        新年あけましておめどうございます。
本年もご愛読のほどなにとぞよろしくお願い申しあげます。
新春を寿ぎ、最近描いた絵アップさせていただきました。ご笑覧下さい。
※余談：東京都武蔵野市井の頭公園にて、「風景水彩画青空個展」を毎週末、祝日執り行っています。絵画にご興味ある方はぜひお越し下さい。「余生(又は人生）の暇潰しやいかに」について大いに語り合いませう。なお、拙ブログを見て来たと言っていただいた方で、気に入った絵がありましたら、プリント版（額装）を謹んで進呈させていただきます。

1）決意がぶれざー（振れなければ）取れるリーダーとなる新しい道。⑤brazeと②trailですが、braze a trail（成句）になるとどうでしょうか、見てわかった方がいいが学習者は使わない方がよいという、いわゆるネーティブ専用語かと思われます。ただ、殊に若い方々には新年にふさわしいフレーズかと思え1月号Ｎｏ1に掲載しました。
例文：She went on to live an extraordinary life of achievement and philanthropy, blazing a trail for woman in business.（原典は忘れましたが、最近のメディアで使われた語彙です）

2）リハビリできるよう、家を改装したんだから、リハビしゅぐ（直ぐ）始めろよ。⑪ refurbish(vt)

3）そのマンションは、あんな狭苦しいの嫌と誰からも忌み嫌われた代物だった。⑭anathema(n)

4）倫理感なくなれば、ちょっとした気持ちのミスで皆犯してしまう軽犯罪。⑬misdemeanor(n)

5)ふりチンぐわっと出てきては一瞬に立ち去る、下品なコント。⑫fleeting(a)－－－久々の袋とじにて失礼します。きれいごとでは身につかない英単語、の一例？

追記（12/9）上記英文はいわゆる回文でした。アルファベットが完全に左右対称になっています。（左右どちらからみても、文字の並びが同じになっています。）
これとおなじ日本文も、回文としていろいろ考えられているようです。サイトにも和文、英文共にいろいろ掲載されていますね。とにかくバカの所業に違いありません。バカの所業=暇つぶし＝文化＝ヒト特有の活動で、とにもかくにも親密感あります。追って詳説したいと思います。ひとまずこれにて失礼します。
